The Setting
This is a transition time, and a transitional light. When something seems strange I always think of the St Vincent line 'strange mercy'. I am being crushed and also, what am I grateful for? The moments, all of them engulfed in positive and negative and fleeting.
In my other world I am bound to be explicit and direct and explain everything. And here I adore that I don't have to.
The dark foreground and illuminated middle ground remind me of Magritte. I first saw a painting like that at Peggy Guggenheim house in Venice. I stayed in a hostel and I hate other people. Its also a UFO, and in New Mexico I love other people and their stories.
